Myles W. Mason, PhD, (he/they) is a lecturer and course director in the Department of Communication and affiliate faculty in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Institute at Georgia State University.

As first-generation faculty, Mason holds a doctorate in Communication from the University of Colorado, Boulder, a master’s degree in Communication and Rhetorical Studies from Syracuse University, and a bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, and Rhetoric from Georgia Gwinnett College. Mason was also awarded certificates of advanced study in Women’s and Gender Studies and of university teaching from Syracuse University.

Currently, Mason is a candidate in the Rhetoric Society of America’s Board of Directors election. Further, for the National Communication Association, Mason serves as part of the Doctoral Education Committee, which awards the Gerald R. Miller Dissertation Award. They have served both associations in conference planning committees, nominating committees, IDEA committees, and more.

Outside academia, Mason is a pet parent to a senior rescue chihuahua named Honey. (The name is ironic because she is not sweet, nor is she honey-colored.) They are also a verified member of the BeyHive, have been a top 500 listener of Kelly Clarkson (at least) three years running. They enjoy reading on their Kindle, and if anyone asks, it is absolutely not smut, only high literature. Mason has also been trying to learn French since 2024.
